I obtained my medical degree in 1994 from Albert Szent-Györgyi Medical University. Following graduation, I began working as a research physician at the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy of the University. My research focused on the function and diseases of the cardiovascular system and their pharmacological treatment, with particular emphasis on the mechanisms underlying the development of cardiac arrhythmias.
In 1997–1998 and again in 1999, I continued my research work in England at King’s College London, followed by a research fellowship at the University of Liverpool between 1999 and 2000. I obtained board certification in Clinical Pharmacology in 1998 and earned my PhD degree in 2002.
Since 2002, I have been working as a practicing physician at the 2nd Department of Internal Medicine and Cardiology Centre, University of Szeged. After one and a half years of general internal medicine residency training, I worked as a resident physician in the Internal Medicine Intensive Care Unit from 2003 to 2007. I obtained board certification in Internal Medicine in 2007.
From 2007 to 2009, I again conducted research at King’s College London, followed in 2009 by clinical work as an internal medicine physician at the Department of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery, St Bartholomew’s University Hospital, London. In 2010, I returned to Szeged and resumed work at the 2nd Department of Internal Medicine and Cardiology Centre, where I have been employed ever since and currently hold the position of Associate Professor.
Between 2012 and 2017, I also worked part-time as a senior on-call specialist at the Emergency Department of Erzsébet Hospital in Hódmezővásárhely. I obtained board certification in Cardiology in 2014.
At present, my work primarily involves clinical patient care, alongside substantial responsibilities in the Hungarian- and English-language teaching of medical students and residents. In parallel, I remain actively involved in medical research. As a supervisor, I guide the scientific work of undergraduate thesis students, members of student research societies, and PhD doctoral candidates. In recognition of my combined clinical, research, and teaching activities, I was awarded the Habilitated Doctor title by the University of Szeged in 2015.
In my clinical practice, I primarily treat and follow hospitalized cardiology patients, and to a lesser extent internal medicine patients. My main areas of clinical focus include coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart diseases, selected cardiac arrhythmias, and inflammatory heart diseases. In addition, I manage patients with hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and other metabolic disorders such as hyperuricaemia and dyslipidaemia.
Since 2020, I have been working as a cardiologist at the Újszeged Medical Center.
