He completed his university studies at the Faculty of General Medicine of the University of Szeged Medical School.

In 1989, he obtained his medical degree in General Medicine with summa cum laude distinction.

In 1994, he passed the board examination in Internal Medicine with excellent results, followed by a board examination in Rheumatology in 1999, also with excellent results.

In the 1999/2000 academic year, he was elected the best candidate of the year in rheumatology board examinations.

In 2012, he obtained a board certification in Physiotherapy, and in 2018 a board certification in Clinical Pharmacology, both with the qualification “excellent”.

Between 1989 and 2001, he carried out his professional work at the 1st Department of Internal Medicine, and between 2001 and 2006 at the Department of Rheumatology of the university.
He taught Hungarian- and English-language medical students and physiotherapy students and supervised several thesis projects.
Over the past 20 years, he has participated as a scientific collaborator in projects supported by the Medical Research Council (ETT) and in several international clinical studies.

He is a member of the Hungarian Society of Internal Medicine, the Hungarian Association of Rheumatologists, the Hungarian Society of Balneology, the Hungarian Society of Osteoporosis and Osteoarthrology, and the Hungarian Biological Society.

He defended his PhD dissertation entitled “Polymorphism of HLA class II alleles and tumor necrosis factor alpha promoter alleles in Hungarian patients with systemic lupus erythematosus and with primary Sjögren’s syndrome” with summa cum laude distinction in 2006.

He is a member of the public body of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

From May 1, 2007, he has served as Head of the Department of Rheumatology at the MÁV Hospital in Szolnok, and since 2008 he has been the Director of the Biological Therapy and Arthritis Center in Szolnok.

Since 2008, he has been a member of the board of the Hungarian Association of Rheumatologists; since 2012, he has served as Deputy Secretary General and member of the executive committee of the Association.

Since 2015, he has been a member of the board of the Hungarian Society of Balneology.

Since 2020, he has been a Professor at the Újszeged Medical Center.

In April 2013, he obtained his habilitation at the University of Szeged. The title of his habilitation lecture was “Investigation of novel pathogenetic factors in systemic lupus erythematosus and primary Sjögren’s syndrome”.

In 2014, the Senate of the University of Szeged awarded him the title of Honorary Associate Professor, followed by the title of Privatdozent (Associate Professor) in 2019.

In 2017, he completed the Medical Chamber Academy (legal and economic studies).

In 2018, he was awarded the Batthyány-Strattmann László Prize by the Minister of Human Capacities.

He has delivered 245 scientific lectures. The number of his national and international scientific publications is 62 excluding citable abstracts, and 141 including them.
The cumulative impact factor of his full-length publications is 65.846.
The number of independent citations of his publications is 771.
His Hirsch index is 13.
